Historical Background of Indian Constitution

The idea of a constitution assembly to frame a constitution for India was first mooted by the Swaraja Party in 1928.

Dr. Sachhidanand Singha was the Provincial president of the assembly that drafted the Indian constitution later Rajendra Prasad took over.

What is The Constitution ?

The Constitution is a fundamental law of a country which reflects the fundamental principles on which the government of that country is based it says down the framework and principal function of various organs of the government, as well as the modalities of interaction between the government and its citizens. India also processes n elaborate written Constitution which was enacted by a Constitution Assambly specifiecally set up for the purpose. In addition the historical background also influenced the nature of the Indian Constitution.

History:

In the meantime in july 1947, the British  Parliament passed the Indian Independance Act 1947, which provided for the transfer of power from the British Government to the Indian hands on 15 August, 1947. The Act establishment of two dominions of India and Pakistan.

The constitution assembly set up 13 committees for framing the constitution .On the basis of the reports, a draft of the constitution was prepared by a seven member drafting committee under the chairmanship of Dr. B.R. Amberkar.B.N.Rau acted as the constitutional advisor to the constituent assembly.The preamble was proposed before the drafting committee by J.L.Nehru
